Celtic Invasion Vacation of Scotland 2010
Thanks for your interest in the Celtic Invasion. I'm still working on details as you can see below. This information WILL change, so bookmark this page if you like. I just wanted you to get an idea of some of the stuff I'm working on.
Remember, this is not your typical "tour". It's a vacation for people who want to enjoy history and Celtic music.
You will need to pay your deposit ASAP if you want to join this tour. We have extremely limited space (only 14 people). I expect it will sell out quickly. However, I will have a waiting list in case space opens up. Join the discussion about the trip now.

Celtic Invasion Vacation
presented by Marc Gunn
7 day vacation, dates : May 17 to May 24, 2010
SCOTLAND!!!!!
I finally got the basic information that I needed to setup the Scotland trip. We're gonna spend a five days in the Scottish village of Oban with day trips to Mull and Iona and who knows what. Then we will finish up with a couple days in Edinburgh to see the castle.
My friend John Wilmott of CelticWays.com is organizing this trip. It's gonna be a wee bit bigger than our past vacations with a 14 person maximum and 10 person minimum (minimum is now met!). If the excitement I've heard about this trip is true, I expect it to sell out quickly.
Here's the basic itinerary which will be finalized once we have a full list of people:
day 0, May 16, 2010 Leave United States
day 1 Arrive in Glasgow in morning. Drive to Oban settle in
day 2 walkabout Oban
day 3 Mull and Iona
day 4 Oban area chill out, time out
everyone do their thing, shopping, fishing
maybe some go walking on nearby islands
day 5 Kilmartin and Donnadd where Columcille
crowned Aiden the first real Gael king of Scotland.
day 6 off to Edinburgh
day 7 explore Edinburgh
day 8, May 24, 2010 fly home

How to join? Deadlines
First, print out this form:
http://www.celticinvasion.com/CIV_Application-2010-Scotland.pdf
And mail a $500 Nonrefundable Downpayment to the address on the form.
(refundable only if the minimum is not met or someone is found to take your place)
Then to join the trip, there are three deadlines that will decide how much this trip will cost you:
Early-Bird Special (extended)
Due by December 15th $1,750 + deposit = $2250
Regular Price
Due by January 31st $1,900 + deposit = $2400
Better Late Than Never
After January 31st $2,100 + deposit = $2600
However, don't forget the discounts:
Save $200 if you share a room
Save $100 if you were on previous CIV trips.
When you're calculating your expenses, keep in mind that the "share a room" feature is primarily for couples. It just depends on the housing we get. We MAY be able to get you two beds in a room, but maybe not. The sooner you sign up, the better your chances.
Remember, the Celtic Invasion Vacation is more than just trips to see everything you possibly can see. We will do as much or as little as we choose. Although with a larger group, I will make a few more plans which we can take or leave at our leisure. But be prepared to relax in a traditional style Scottish village, eat homemade food, taste a bit of the Scottish lifestyle, get to know the natives, drink in the pubs, and walk along the beach in Scotland.
It will be magic. And I hope you will join me.
Slainte!
